PADMAN BIO
Laurence Ashdown Alias Padman was born in Tooting S/London in
March 1984, almost immediately moving to the Pollard`s estate,
Mitcham after birth. Padman age 17 started to hang around with
People from the estate called Format, wishman, and spite, the
foursome hit it off well and started writing and spitting to dnb.
Padman started making dnb mixtapes in his makeshift attic studio
with Format in around 2002, he had a good reception from
listeners and a few radio show offers from shows such as Resist
fm. Padman siezed writing in 2004 to 2007 due to strong work
commitments yet came back with a bang to record Anxiety in Online
studios in Croydon S/London. Padman moved from Pollard`s Hill
Estate to Torquay in 2007 and started recording in various
studios in the S/W, producing such tracks as;
Thats life,
Bear Hopez,
Skullduggery,
and The Conglomerate fat
cat.
Padman joined the S/W music scene by doing open mic nites in bars
and passing around the tracks that he had made. A few month`s on
Padman got introduced to Dj Tron from Bluefoot productions
through a friend, Tron gave him a slot on his "JUMP UP"
radio show called "Visionbass Radio" with him and
"Dj Sensai", and after liking what he did they offered
him a residency on Bluefoots jump up night`s called
"Blitzed" Padman continued to do sets for
"Bluefoot" throughout 2007/2008 in various clubs and
areas such as;
Bristol,
Exeter,
and Torquay
He was also doing radios shows including;Soundart radio, Lurk fm
and visionbass radio and by this time Padman was a resident for
"CnH entertainment" nights named "The
Asylum". This allowed him to warm up for such artist
as;
Shabba dee,
Micky Finn,
Fatman D,
G Dub,
Friction,
Pendulum,
Andy C,
and Nicky
Blackmarket
Padman met Mista Hyde back in early 2008 at Visionbass Radio and
after a huge b2b set they decided to collaborate on a track with
what would become "chat like that". The track was an
instant success so a collab album was in order which after 3 name
changes ended up as "year of the soljah".
In May 2009 Padman took a booking from "Relegate
Records" owner "Midnight" for a night called
"Urban Takeover" in Liquid Bar, Paignton. Padman and
Mista Hyde had the crowd on their feet throughout there whole set
and got booked again for the following month, the duo started
using "Relegate studio`s" to record tracks and
collaborate. After hearing there style, Midnight promptly signed
them agreeing to release their debut album "year of the
soljah".
