PADMAN BIO

     Laurence Ashdown Alias Padman was born in Tooting S/London in March 1984, almost immediately moving to the Pollard`s estate, Mitcham after birth. Padman age 17 started to hang around with People from the estate called Format, wishman, and spite, the foursome hit it off well and started writing and spitting to dnb. Padman started making dnb mixtapes in his makeshift attic studio with Format in around 2002, he had a good reception from listeners and a few radio show offers from shows such as Resist fm. Padman siezed writing in 2004 to 2007 due to strong work commitments yet came back with a bang to record Anxiety in Online studios in Croydon S/London. Padman moved from Pollard`s Hill Estate to Torquay in 2007 and started recording in various studios in the S/W, producing such tracks as;

Thats life,

Bear Hopez,

Skullduggery,

and The Conglomerate fat cat.

     Padman joined the S/W music scene by doing open mic nites in bars and passing around the tracks that he had made. A few month`s on Padman got introduced to Dj Tron from Bluefoot productions through a friend, Tron gave him a slot on his "JUMP UP" radio show called "Visionbass Radio" with him and "Dj Sensai", and after liking what he did they offered him a residency on Bluefoots jump up night`s called "Blitzed" Padman continued to do sets for "Bluefoot" throughout 2007/2008 in various clubs and areas such as;

Bristol,

Exeter,

and Torquay

     He was also doing radios shows including;Soundart radio, Lurk fm and visionbass radio and by this time Padman was a resident for "CnH entertainment" nights named "The Asylum". This allowed him to warm up for such artist as;

Shabba dee,

Micky Finn,

Fatman D,

G Dub,

Friction,

Pendulum,

Andy C,

and Nicky Blackmarket

     Padman met Mista Hyde back in early 2008 at Visionbass Radio and after a huge b2b set they decided to collaborate on a track with what would become "chat like that". The track was an instant success so a collab album was in order which after 3 name changes ended up as "year of the soljah".

     In May 2009 Padman took a booking from "Relegate Records" owner "Midnight" for a night called "Urban Takeover" in Liquid Bar, Paignton. Padman and Mista Hyde had the crowd on their feet throughout there whole set and got booked again for the following month, the duo started using "Relegate studio`s" to record tracks and collaborate. After hearing there style, Midnight promptly signed them agreeing to release their debut album "year of the soljah".
